Background

In my free time, I have started to take on some freelance projects focused on site redesigns with WordPress. For my first completed project, I worked with San Diego Midwife, a comprehensive, midwifery practice that offers a range of services to new mothers and their families.

Their current website had not been updated for over 8 years and was difficult to update with new content, requiring a developer to make small copy edits on the practice’s behalf.

In an effort to clean up and give the site a new feel, I was focused on creating a responsive WordPress that the midwives could edit and post to on their own. After a thorough competitive analysis of local midwifery’s closing to San Diego Midwife, I decided to take a completely different approach to a typical “medical website.” San Diego Midwife is community-based and focused on creating clean and open relationships between themselves and their mothers.

The website design is meant to mimic that feeling of openness - based on the white space as well as the feeling of focused, getting straight to information that mother’s need before the decision of signing up for a consultation.

Along with redesigning their website, I also cleaned up their logo and branding to feel fresh, clean and modern, and to match the new site!

It was a joy to work on this website and to have San Diego Midwife as my first freelance clients! Please visit them at sandiegomidwife.com.
